Review:
The horse genre. It's slightly less manipulative than the dog genre, but clearly above the cat genre.
What does this horse do that makes a kid join the army to get it back? Does it lay golden eggs, because if it does I didn't see it. Oh, but this movie is about that special bond man and animal share. This is a special horse. Granted, the horse is the best actor in the movie, and I don't mean that as a compliment.
Just like Homeward Bound, horse and owner are reunited through a sequence of events that defy logic, sense, and the space time continuum.
Did the pets make it back in Homeward Bound or did they die in a pit? I don't remember. There's a rumored directors cut of War Horse where the horse tramples the boy at the end. For some reason, that didn't test well.
This movie sucks!
